Fatima Pilgrimages

Our Lady of Fatima Shrine
Fatima Pilgrimages

Possibly the three most popular Catholic places are Rome, Lourdes and Fatima Pilgrimages.

God placed Fatima on the map on October 13, 1917 with the Miracle of the Sun.

We have brought out many Fatima Pilgrimages in the last 30 years and we can attest that Fatima now more visited than ever.

A  great plan was conceived in Heaven.

This Plan began to make itself known in a very small way to three little shepherds in the remote little farming village of Aljustrel, in the Spring of 1916.

Fatima village

It was still early in the season, the rainy time, before the weather warmed up.

That morning, Lucia dos Santos, and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto, had led the sheep to the Cabeco to graze.

The ground and the grass were wet from the morning rain.

They could feel the moisture on their feet, through their little sandals.  Drizzle began to fall gently from the sky.  The children  ran up a hill to a cave where they could shelter themselves and their sheep until the rain stopped.

They ate their lunch in the cave; and although the rain stopped, and the skies cleared, they stayed there, playing a game with pebbles.

Children of Fatima

Closer and closer the vision came, until it was almost on top of them.

It was a beautiful young man.  His long mane of blonde hair blew in the breeze.  There was a sensitivity about him, almost contradicted by a forceful strength.  His eyes were cobalt blue.

When he looked at the children, they could feel his stare to the depths of their souls.  While they were frightened of this majestic figure before them, they couldn't take their eyes off him.  He spoke to them.

"Do not be afraid.  I am the Angel of Peace."

Fatima Pilgrimages continued Our Lady continued "Then you will have much to suffer, but the grace of God will be your strength."

Lucia described what happened next.

"As she pronounced these words, she opened her hands and bathed us in a very intense light; it was like a reflection coming from her hands, which penetrated our hearts to the depths of our souls, so that we saw ourselves in God, who was this light, more clearly than in a mirror.  Then by an impulse which came from our hearts, we fell on our knees in unison, and repeated inwardly: "O Holy Trinity, I adore You.  My God, My God, I love You in the Blessed Sacrament."

Then Mary said, "Say the Rosary every day, to bring peace to the world and the end of the war."

Enough!  Our Lady wanted to tell them all that she would share with them over the next six months, but knew that she had better stop now.  After all, this trio consisted of a 10 year old, an 8 year old, and a 7 year old.  How much could their little minds absorb?

The Lady from Heaven slowly ascended. The bubble of light enveloped her; she moved slowly to the east, back to from where she had come, and finally out of sight.  The children watched until there was not a sign of her left in the sky.
