Pilgrimage to Canada - Shrine of Saint Anne du Beaupre
Grandparents are the story tellers!
As Grandma Anne related to her grandchild Jesus the stories of their people, the Jews, did her heart tremble as she realized that this shoot of Jesse's tree would someday die for the salvation of theworld?
Jesus loved His Mother; it only stands to reason that Jesus, perfect Son, was also perfect Grandson and being Love itself loved His Grandmother.
As Love never dies, that Love did not die, and you can see it in the faith of these hundreds of thousands of pilgrims who come to seek the intercession of St. Anne, Grandma, knowing He listens and cares.
A little background on Saints Joachim and Anne.
We know that he was privileged to offer sacrifice in the Temple, and that he was a generous giver to the Temple and to the poor. We also know that Joachim and Anne are related to Elizabeth and Zechariah, parents of St. John the Baptist.
Pilgrimage to Canada - Shrine of North American Martyrs - Midland
There was so much blood shed to evangelize this continent, the rivers and streams ran red with the blood of the Martyrs who died that we might this day have the Faith.
Midland, Ontario, Canada hosts the Shrine of the North American Martyrs, the Blackrobes, the Jesuit missionaries from France who came to evangelize, knowing they would never return to their families.
See the fort they built, where they worked, and where they died.
Because of their love and dedication to the Church and the Indians to whom they ministered they gave the last ounce of their blood.
