Saint Philomena Virgin and Martyr
Mugnano del Cardinale - Shrine of Saint Philomena Near Pompeii and southern Italy is a small town named Mugnano del Cardinale that has the Shrine of Saint Philomena. We make this one of the stops on our Pilgrimages to Italy. The Custodian of the Shrine is very passionate about Saint Philomena. The Shrine has a side altar dedicated to the Saint and a small museum. There is something special about Mugnano del Cardinale and the little Shrine. It is one of those places that lingers in the memory for a long time. I remember when we first arrived there to tape for the dvd and the custodian was not so interested until he determined that we were producing the program to be shown on EWTN and then. You would have thought we were his long lost relatives. He got very excited and it show on the dvd. He did not want us to leave. Saint Philomena may be inviting you to her Shrine there this year.
